Sensory day. Certification time. One year later we’re still tasting olive oils at home.

The COOC sensory panel is currently tasting 2020 harvested oils for quality.

The top quality is extra virgin. Essentially, that means that there are no defects, it’s only olives, and the oil has also passed a lab test already.

We taste and evaluate the aroma/fruitiness, bitterness and pungency of the oil and its intensity and balance and score via a software program.

Our individual scores are assimilated and hopefully panel members agree with the results! It’s always blind and anonymous - even when we meet as a group.

It may seem a little odd sipping oil but I love it! Olive it 😜

That’s why we carry COOC certified extra virgin at OTOT. It’s some of the best.

#dumpthehate Made dumplings last night with 125 people online who gathered in solidarity, community, safety and support of our API neighbors and friends ... known and unknown.

Stories were shared of painful and sad memories of discrimination and blatant racism. Heartbreaking. Infuriating. Inspiring.

Asian cultures tend to teach keeping your head and eyes down. Don’t speak up. But it’s time to speak up, be heard, be seen for the strength, beauty, diversity, contributions, and efforts of generations of Asian families here in the US.

I lived in Japan for 10 years and traveled extensively in SEA and was always welcomed, treated kindly, safe.

What will it take for us as Americans to see ourselves in our neighbors... all of our neighbors?

It was a fun night and I finally learned how to fold my favorite dumpling or gyoza that I love to eat so much.

Super grateful to have been a part of this needed outpouring of love and support through food ❣️
