This past weekend has been all about food, Good Food, Specialty Food. It started with the Good Food Awards on Friday evening, celebrating the “hard path” and work of small food crafters throughout the country. Then on to the Fancy Food Show where food suppliers from all over the world show up to introduce their products to buyers. It’s a time for me to meet old friends and discover some new ones, while, of course, tasting as much as I can along the way.

Cari and Craig are farmers turned vinegar makers. We always enjoy catching up on business, travels, and future plans at the FFS. They produce the very popular Champagne Mimosa and Ancho Chile as well as the Blackberry and Plum Basil balsamic vinegars available at OTOT.

Antonella is a new friend from Sicily. Her extra virgin olive oils are bright, fruity, grassy and full of her vibrant passionate spirit. When she discovered her audience were olive oil tasters, she showed us her mill in action, explained why she filters her oils and invited us to visit. Maybe a trip to Sicily in 2020? Her joyful enthusiasm was infectious. Look for her evoos on the shelf soon.

The takeaway is food as connector. Good food made with excellent fruit and ingredients and produced with passion and love. What could be more nourishing?

Lemony Lentils & Spinach
